Inclusive Education Awards 2026 

Inclusion Nova Scotia invites nominations for our annual Inclusive Education Awards, which celebrates educators, school community members and students who help build welcoming, inclusive, and supportive schools for all students, including students with intellectual disabilities. 

About the Awards  

Carmel French Inclusive Education Award  

The Carmel French Inclusive Education Award honours educators, support staff, or other school community members who create equitable learning environments where every learner belongs. The recipient will be a champion of inclusion – celebrating diversity, demonstrating practices that are flexible, responsive and inclusive of every learner.  

Inclusive School Community Leader Award 

The Student Inclusive School Community Leader Award celebrates a student from pre-primary to grade 12 who goes above and beyond to contribute to a school community where all students feel valued, respected, and included.  

What Inclusion Means 

Inclusion means creating school communities where every student feels safe, respected, and that they belong. It includes removing barriers, showing kindness and empathy, and using practices that celebrate diversity, identities, and experiences so everyone can participate fully in school life. 

What We Are Looking For 

Nominations should include specific examples of how the nominee promotes inclusion. This might include:  

• Removing barriers to participation 

• Using creative or collaborative approaches in the classroom  

• Create a positive and welcoming environment where every student can take part and thrive. 

How to Submit a Nomination 

Nominations are submitted through online forms: 

For Educators: Carmel French Inclusive Education Award Nominee Submission 2025  – Fill out form 

For Students: Student Inclusive School Community Leader Award  – Fill out form 

You will be asked to: 

• Provide the nominee’s name and contact information 

• Describe why they deserve the award 

• Indicate if Inclusion Nova Scotia has permission to use your submission in future communications.  

Your personal contact details will only be collected if you choose to provide them.  

If you prefer to send a video submission, you can email it to inform@inclusionns.ca. 

Submissions close on January 15, 2026, at 4 p.m.  

Award Recipients will be selected by the Inclusive Education Committee and will be featured on Inclusion Nova Scotia platforms to inspire others across Nova Scotia.
