About Inclusion Nova Scotia:

Inclusion Nova Scotia is a dynamic and growing non-profit organization committed to ensuring that individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families have the support they require to live inclusive lives in their communities. The Role:

As Manager of Family Engagement and Leadership, you will build relationships and support the development of family leadership groups across the province. With the support of the Family Leadership Committee, you will create opportunities for families to envision and build an inclusive life for their loved ones with an intellectual disability. With the support of the Inclusion NS team and the Inclusion Canada Federation, you will provide information, resources and insights to family groups across the province. You will be able to learn from experts across the federation to build, lead and mentor sessions on inclusion to inform, empower, and support families. The Manager will strengthen family leadership and advocacy across Nova Scotia.

As Nova Scotia enters a critical time of transformation of support and services for people with disabilities, you will be part of a vibrant team that will directly impact and bring positive change to the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and their families across the province. Above all, you will clearly and consistently communicate the organization's unequivocal commitment to human rights, equity and inclusion. As an Inclusion Nova Scotia staff member, you will be a part of a collaborative and knowledgeable team.


Key Responsibilities:

Family Engagement and Leadership—Build connections, engagement, and support for families in Nova Scotia to envision an inclusive life in the community. Create opportunities to bring families together, strengthening their relationships with one another and to Inclusion Nova Scotia. Support community family leaders in advocating better and serving on regional Remedy working groups.

Resource Development and Delivery—Research, design, and deliver workshops to support families in learning about the Remedy and how to envision and create an inclusive life for their loved ones with disabilities. Ability to provide leadership inside and outside the organization to support families in building an inclusive life.


Qualifications:

Experience with family engagement, building relationships with diverse communities and supporting individuals with navigating supports.

Demonstrated understanding of human rights, social inclusion, diversity, and advocacy for individuals with disabilities. Knowledge of the Human Rights Remedy and PATH will be considered an asset.

Strong research skills with the ability to keep up to date with policy changes, sector information and trends.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships quickly, connect people, gather information and build partnerships for collaboration.

Experience in delivering presentations and workshop facilitation. Experience planning engagement events or sessions for families will be considered an asset.

Empathic listener and problem solver with the ability to generate new ideas.

Education or experience in family counselling, community development, or social sector management is considered an asset.

Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Results oriented mindset, solid project management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay: $55,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
