Sullivan Alexander
Growing up, Sullivan has always had a passion for making a difference.
When his youngest daughter became suddenly sick at age 12, she spent a few years in the hospital before being diagnosed a few years later with an ultra-ultra-rare genetic metabolic condition with intellectual disabilities. Embarking on a lengthy, challenging journey toward her recovery, it would take his family from Alberta to British Columbia for a diagnosis that would lead to a new normal and better life for her.
Throughout his daughter's recovery process, the amazing teamwork provided by hospital specialists, and navigating various levels of government bodies and organizations, he and his wife successfully helped their daughter live a better life. With gratitude, Sullivan appreciates the struggles of families with children and adults with intellectual disabilities and is focused on giving back and helping them advocate for better-quality programs and services to live equal and fuller lives.
As a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and CMA with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, he's worked in energy and regulated sectors in Alberta and British Columbia. Sullivan has extensive management, financial planning and reporting, budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, regulatory planning and compliance, and stakeholder engagement experience. He is fully engaged and invested in advocacy to help persons with intellectual disabilities become more valued in society and gain the support they and their families need. As the Treasurer of Inclusion Nova Scotia, he sees this as an opportunity to fulfill his passion for giving back to one of the community's most vulnerable yet deserving members.
