A native of North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Jane Gillis has lived in Halifax since 2000 with her husband and their three daughters. With a BSc in Pharmacy from Dalhousie University and a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of British Columbia, Jane has worked for Dalhousie, the Pharmacy Association, NS Department of Health and Wellness and other organizations as a pharmacy consultant. She enjoys skiing and is Vice-Commodore at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron.  

 

Jane first became involved with the Halifax Association for Community Living when her oldest daughter, who has physical and intellectual disabilities, attended the Halifax Developmental Centre in 2000. Jane has a keen interest in advocacy, especially for those who cannot speak for themselves.  Jane is also very concerned about quality programming and, eventually, supported housing options for her daughter who is now in her 20s.
