Inclusive Education Specialists

NSACL appreciates the announcement from the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development about hiring 173 more inclusive education specialists across the province. We are not aware of how these positions were allocated and look forward to learning more about the job duties, and the communication and engagement of students and families to ensure the supports meet their needs. We are encouraged by the 11 new Pre-Primary Inclusive Coaches as families have shared concerns about the lack of inclusion for their young children. These positions are part of the process to change and improve inclusive education in Nova Scotia, and we are interested to learn if these are enough, and if the specialists that students need.
