John is a founding member of People First Canada and People First Nova Scotia. John is a  former member on the Executive Committee of CACL and a former representative of People First Canada on the Council of Canadians with Disabilities. John is a proud member of People First Canada Freedom Tour. John takes pride in receiving the CCD Award and one of his proudest moments is receiving the Dave Kent Award at the People First Nova Scotia 2021 Annual General Meeting.
